In April 2007,
Saskatchewan Health, SGI, and the Acquired Brain Injury Partnership
Project sponsored the Moose Jaw School Seat Belt Poster Project.
In May 2007, the
Moose Jaw Police Service, working with the Moose Jaw Warriors,
invited Grade 6, 7, and 8 students from both the Prairie South
School Division No. 210 and the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Separate
School Division No. 22 to participate in the Seat Belt Poster
Project.
The students
were asked to submit a full color ledger size poster that depicts a
positive image and awareness of safe seatbelt usage. There were 136
entries considered. The winners were selected by members of the
Moose Jaw Warriors, Jason Bast and Travis Ehrhardt. The works of art
were judged on the quality of the message to wear a seatbelt, skill
required to make the work, and the overall appearance.
The top three
winners received various prizes of Moose Jaw Warrior apparel
including hats, jerseys and hoodies. The top three also had their
works professionally framed and are publicly displayed at the Moose
Jaw Warriors office.
The top three
winners:
Renee - Rouleau Elementary School
Francis - King
George School
Shandell - Empire
School
The next ten
runner ups received bicycle safety helmets and recognition for their
work. The runner ups in no particular order are: Annie - Lindale
School, Conner - King George, Dakota - King George, Roslyn - King
George, Steve - William Grayson, James - King George, Kristy -
Lindale School, Tense - Rockglen Elementary School, Tirana - William
Grayson, and Regan - William Grayson.
The Moose Jaw
Police Service wish to thank all the students and teachers that made
this project a success. With your participation, we have educated
ourselves and others of seat belt safety. We have bettered our
community by making it safer.
The Moose Jaw
Police Service wish to thank the following individuals and
organizations for their part in organizing, judging and assisting in
the development and execution of the Seat Belt Poster Project: Jason
Bast, Travis Gerhardt and Amy Moats of the Moose Jaw Warriors,
Prairie South School Division No. 210, and the Holy Trinity Roman
Catholic Separate School Division No. 22.
