This past weekend, several parked vehicles were damaged all over the city with the culprits typically smashing out windows. Many vehicles were targeted causing several thousand dollars worth of damage and frustrating a lot of residents. Please help us crack down on the culprits.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers need the public's help in solving an Armed Robbery that occurred at TJ’S Pizza at 3:47 a.m. on Sunday, February 15th. Two masked males entered the store, produced a weapon and demanded money from the clerk then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

 

Stoppers has had many successes thanks to your calls. This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers needs the public's help in solving a number of cases where car windows were smashed over the past two weeks. Culprits appear to have used a pellet gun to shoot out the windows of parked vehicles all over the city’s east side. Many vehicles were targeted causing several thousand dollars worth of damage. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Dominoes Pizza located at 826 9th Avenue NW. On November 28 at 2030 hours, an unknown armed and masked male threatened the delivery driver and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as 5’10, 160 lbs wearing a hoodie and blue jeans.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a break and enter to a garage and theft of a motor vehicle that occurred from the 200 block of Calypso Drive sometime during the night of November 22, 2008. The vehicle was stolen from the garage but recovered, abandoned, after striking a power pole near Caronport. The vehicle is a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, white in color. Do you need some Christmas Cash? Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve two wilful damages that occurred at Sacred Heart and Westmount Schools. Sometime during the weekend of October 11, unknown culprits threw rocks through two windows at Westmount and through three windows at Sacred Heart causing approximately $500.00 in damage to each school.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve two commercial break and enters to hardware stores located on the city’s east side. One business was broken into on September 7 and the other on September 14. Suspects entered each business and stole approximately $12,000 worth of tools, other items and some cash. The stolen property was still in boxes and price tags were attached. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve three arsons that occurred in the early morning hours of September 6, 2008. Between 2:00 and 4:00 am, a garage located in the 100 block of Fairford St. East and two vehicles in the 200 and 300 block of River St. East went up in flames. All three are total losses and damage is estimated to be $20,000.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve several thefts from motor vehicles. Twenty-three reports of theft from motor vehicles occurred on the south side of Moose Jaw during the month of August. Help catch these thieves before they get your vehicle.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a Break and Enter that occurred to Prairie Oasis Restaurant and Tempo Gas Bar during the evening of Sunday, June 29. Unknown culprits entered the business through a window and stole the restaurant safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash. They also stole cigarettes and other items from the gas bar. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an Assault Causing Bodily Harm that occurred in the Balmoral Apartments located at 822 Main Street North at midnight on May 18, 2008. Unknown culprits forced their way into the suite and assaulted the victim knocking him unconscious and causing extensive injuries while he was in bed. The culprits are described as four males and three females in their late teens or early 20’s.

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a theft that occurred at Double “K” Excavating located in Tuxford, Saskatchewan. Between April 18 - 21, unknown culprit(s) stole a Case Model 1845 Skidsteer, orange in color, valued at $15,000. If you have information about this or any other crime, please steer it our way. 

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a hit and run that occurred at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. On April 11 between 4:30 and 5:00 pm, unknown culprit(s) hit the gate at Maple Valley Compound causing damage to it, then fled the scene without reporting the accident. The suspect vehicle is described as green in color.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an attempted arson that occurred at 1048 Monk Avenue on April 2, 2008. At approximately 1:00 am, an unknown person threw a glass bottle filled with a flammable substance at the residence. Luckily the homeowner was alerted and extinguished the flames prior to any major damage occurring.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a theft that occurred at Vanier Collegiate located at 324 MacDonald Street between December 14 and 18, 2007.  Sometime during the weekend unknown culprits entered Vanier Collegiate and stole electronics valued at $15,000. The culprit made off with 3 Canon cameras, 2 digital projectors and a laptop computer.

 

Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a theft of motor vehicle that occurred at Westmount Foods on February 17. At approximately 9:45 pm, unknown culprit(s) stole the vehicle while it was running in the parking lot. They drove it to the 1500 block of Cree Crescent where they smashed out the windows.

 


 

Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help identify the person(s) responsible for a hit and run that occurred at Sandy Point, Buffalo Pound Lake. Sometime between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm on Sunday January 6, 2008 a shed sustained $2,500 damage when a truck hit it. The truck was identified as pulling a snowmobile trailer loaded with two snowmobiles.

 

Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve 13 residential break and enters that have occurred during the daytime on Moose Jaw’s east side. Between early December 2007 and the end of January 2008, unknown culprits have entered the residences by forcing open a front or rear door. Once inside, culprits stole electronics and other items.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an Armed Robbery that occurred at South Hill Esso. At approximately 2108 hours November 18th, 2007 an unknown white male, wearing a blue “hoodie” style jacket, confronted staff with a knife. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve several wilful damage to motor vehicles that occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend. Between October 6 - 9, twenty-three motor vehicles, parked throughout the city, had one or more windows smashed out. If  you are a vehicle owner, this does affect you. public service announcement

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a break and enter to the Moose Jaw Wildlife Center located at 1396 3rd Avenue North East. Between October 1 - 3, unknown culprits entered the building by prying open the rear door. Once inside, the culprits attacked the liquor safe and stole approximately $400.00 worth of alcohol. Damage to the building is estimated at over $300.00. Help crack down on crime.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an Armed Robbery that occurred at the 7-11 located on Main Street. At approximately 0140 hours on September 19, 2007 the culprit entered the store, told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money and cigarettes. The culprit then fled. The culprit is described as being aboriginal, approximately 25 years old and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt. public service announcement

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve several wilful damages to Westmount School located at 1100 Currie Crescent. Between July 28 and September 4, 2007 unknown culprits smashed out several windows at the school and caused an estimated $5,000.00 damage. Help us solve these crimes and protect your glass. public service announcement

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a suspicious fire that occurred in the 0 blk River Street East at approximately 4:00 am on Sunday September 2, 2007.  A metal shed located north of the Park Hotel went up in flames and caused extensive damage to nearby power and cable lines as well as nearby vehicles. The total damage is undetermined at this time.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a break and enter that occurred to a residence in the 700 block Stadacona Street East. On August 16, 2007 unknown culprits entered the home by damaging the two front doors. Once inside, the culprits stole a Sony Hi-Definition video camera and voice recorder as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a suspicious fire that occurred at 219 High St. West on August 9, 2007 at approximately 8:30 pm. Investigation determined the fire started in the third floor hallway. Luckily, alarms were working and all residents were able to evacuate the building without injury.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public's assistance to help solve a wilful damage that occurred to the Grant Hall located at 405 Main St. North. On July 25 or 26, 2007, unknown culprits broke out four windows in the hotel by throwing objects through the glass. If you have information about this, or any other crime, please call Crime Stoppers. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an armed robbery that occurred on July 20, 2007 at Fas Gas located at 874 High Street West. At 0150 hours an unknown culprit entered the store with a knife and demanded cash. The culprit assaulted the employee and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The culprit is described as male, 5’9” tall, 170 pounds wearing a black hoody, blue pants and a red bandanna covering his face.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help a break and enter to a residence that occurred in the 800 block of Stadacona Street East on July 15. Unknown culprits entered the residence and stole three swords including two replica swords and three collectors knives. The swords and knives are valued at approx $1,000.00.  Lets slash this crime.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred in the 1100 block of Vaughn Street on June 29. Unknown culprits entered the vehicle by pushing in the windshield. Once inside the culprits took a toolbox containing approximately $2,000.00 worth of tools.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve 17 break and enters to vehicles that occurred throughout Moose Jaw during the month of June. Three of the involved thefts were for radar detectors. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a suspicious house fire that occurred in the early morning hours of June 12, 2007. An abandoned residence located at 652 Athabasca Street East was destroyed by fire and damage is estimated at $50,000.00. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a theft of parts from a combine that occurred on #2 Highway north of Moose Jaw. The parts stolen include a starter, alternator and air conditioning pump with a total value in excess of $1,000.00. There has been an increase in the number of thefts from farms in the Moose Jaw area over the last several weeks. Please do your part to keep our community a desirable place to live, work and visit.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a series of wilful damages that have occurred at Hamilton Flats Slow Pitch diamonds between May 13 - 20. Unknown culprits have driven their vehicles onto the ball diamonds tearing up the fields. They also stole one of the port-a-potties and caused extensive damage to the others. The damage is estimated around $3,000.00. Pitch one our way to help catch these culprits.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a theft that occurred at North Grove Resort, Buffalo Pound between January 15 and May 3. Unknown culprits stole a Jayco 25th Anniversary Edition tent trailer valued at $3000.00. The trailer is cream colored with a red pinstripe and Saskatchewan license plate 622AHN at the time it was stolen.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a suspicious fire that occurred in the alley of the 800 block of 4th Avenue North West on May 4. Unknown culprits ignited a double sized mattress that was folded over the fence on the west side of the building. Luckily fire crews responded quickly and no other property sustained damage. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a fraud that occurred in Moose Jaw on April 18, 2007. The culprit contacted the victim and said he worked for her bank. He directed her to withdraw $4000.00 cash from her MasterCard, attend to the Town and Country Mall and turn the money over to a mall security guard. The culprit is described as Caucasian about 50 years old, 5’6” tall, heavy set, with a round face and light brown hair. Let's stop this fraudster before he scams you or your family.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving 10 wilful damages that have occurred throughout our city since April 10. Five businesses and five residences have reported damage caused by objects being thrown through their windows. Damages to the windows are estimated up to $1000 each.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving an incident that occurred at Westmount School on March 27 after school hours. Two unknown males approached two youths and stabbed their football with a knife. One of the males had a dark complexion and was wearing a dark hoodie. The other male had red hair and was wearing a red hoodie. Help us protect your children while they are in the playgrounds.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public's assistance to help solve several wilful damages that occurred on Friday, March 23, 2007. In the early morning hours, unknown culprits shot out several vehicle, house and business windows with a pellet gun. The culprits were driving a small to mid-size dark colored car. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving the following frauds committed at the Royal Bank. On March 15, 2007 unknown culprits set up a “skimmer”, defined as a method used to obtain personal information including PIN numbers. The culprits proceeded to access ten different bank accounts and withdrew approximately $10,000.00 from the victims.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve a number of wilful damages that have occurred throughout the month of February. Several locations throughout Moose Jaw were victim of graffiti. Unknown culprits spray-painted the letters “FTP”, as well as the words “Aint No Justice” and “Aint No Peace” on city signs and buildings. This is hostility towards the police and the justice system, not the owners of the damaged property.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve 57 reported wilful damages to motor vehicles that occurred between February 1 - 27, 2007. Damages include slashed tires, broken windows and punched locks. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve five wilful damages and thefts from motor vehicles that occurred at various locations throughout the city. Sometime during the night of January 31, 2007 unknown culprit(s) entered five vehicles by smashing out the windows.  

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance to help solve a wilful damage to the moose in Crescent Park. On January 23, 2007 the adult Bull Moose was noted lying on its side with damage to its leg and antlers. This is the third incident of damage to the three moose since November and they have now been removed from Crescent Park.

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve 19 break and enters that have occurred during the month of January. Between January 7 and 8 in particular, unknown culprits entered 11 storage bays at two separate facilities by cutting off the locks on the bays. It is still unknown what property was stolen.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve an Armed Robbery that occurred at Temple Garden’s Mineral Spa on January 6, 2007.  An unknown suspect, armed with a knife, approached an employee who was in his vehicle and demanded his wallet. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male approx 5’7” tall, wearing a ski jacket, gloves and a neck warmer.

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public’s assistance to help solve eleven business break and enters that occurred between December 15 and December 31, 2006. Unknown culprits entered the downtown businesses by prying or kicking in doors. Once inside, undisclosed amounts of cash and miscellaneous property were taken.

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a break, enter and theft that occurred at Central Lutheran Church located at 27 Hochelaga St. West during the evening of December 4, 2006. Unknown culprit(s) entered the locked shed and stole a red 8 horsepower 24-inch Mastercraft snow blower valued at $1500.00.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a hit and run that occurred on November 24 to 7-11 Convenience Store located on 13th Avenue North West. The unknown suspect was operating a grey Buick and drove into the Southside of the store, breaking a window valued at $1000.00. The driver of the vehicle is described as an older male with grey hair, glasses and clean-shaven.

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving four residential Break and Enters that occurred on Sunday November 12, 2006 during the Warrior hockey game. The culprits upset the house and stole undisclosed amounts of jewellery and cash.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a wilful damage that occurred on November 5, 2006. The baby moose on the island located in Crescent Park was found damaged.

 


 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving an attempted robbery that occurred on October 28th at Domino’s Pizza situated at 826 9th Avenue NW. The culprit was wearing all black and had his face disguised when he entered the restaurant at 0125 hours. The culprit then threatened employees and attempted to steal the cash from the cash register. 

 

Since October 3, 2006, the Moose Jaw Police Service are investigating Break and Enters to 13 businesses within the city. Entry was gained to the various businesses by forcing a door or window.

In the early morning hours of October 10, 2006, two suspicious vehicle fires occurred while parked in a driveway in the 1100 block of 5th Ave North East. The vehicles are valued at $10,000 and fortunately no one was injured.

Sometime overnight on September 26, unknown culprit(s) broke into a confectionary store on the west side of the city by crawling through a window that was pried open. The owners of the store were in the building at the time. Once inside, culprits stole an undisclosed amount of cigarettes.

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a Break and Enter to the Hamilton Flats garage and concession stand located in the 1200 block of Manitoba Street West.  Sometime over the July 22, 2006 weekend, unknown suspect(s) entered the garage by kicking in the concession door. Once inside the suspect(s) did extensive damage to the building as well as its contents.

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a theft of a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. During the early morning of July 14, 2006 the vehicle was stolen from the 800 block of Algoma Avenue. It was found abandoned only a few blocks away where it was involved in an accident that caused extensive damage to the undercarriage.

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a Break and Enter that occurred to Western Dodge Chrysler Jeep located at 1768 Main Street North. Over the Canada Day weekend, unknown suspect(s) entered the business by smashing out a glass door. The suspect(s) were throughout the building and exited the business taking a computer monitor valued at $300.00.  Don’t let these criminals dodge justice.

 


 

  This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a residential break and enter. Midday on June 19, 2006 culprits entered a residence located on the north west side of Moose Jaw. Once inside, culprits attacked the bedroom and the living room. Stolen was a 42” Plasma TV and a DVD/stereo surround sound combo as well as jewelry and personal items valued at over $10,000. If this was your home, how would this crime affect you?

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving the theft of eight road maintenance/barricade signs. The signs are valued at $100.00 each and were stolen from at least four locations during the month of June. The signs are described as “Road Closed”, “Road Closed Ahead”, “Grooved Pavement Ahead” and are the property of the City of Moose Jaw and Cypress Paving. These important signs are there to protect you and your vehicle.

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance in solving a theft and arson of a motor vehicle. Sometime after 8:00 pm June 6, a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity was stolen from the 500 block of Saskatchewan Street West. The vehicle was located at 3:10 am June 7 in the 1400 block of Spadina Drive engulfed in flames. The vehicle has extensive damage due to the fire.

 


 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance with a Commercial Break and Enter that occurred on May 27 at Coffee Encounters located at 203 Main Street North. Culprits entered the business by prying open an east side door. Once inside the culprits entered the office area and stole $370.00 cash. 

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance with a break and enter that occurred at Moose Jaw Wildlife Centre during the night of May 22, 2006. Culprits entered the building by prying open the front door. Once inside, culprits attacked the storage room lockers and kitchen area and stole an inoperable replica firearm that was used for hunter safety. It's believed the same culprits are responsible for the break and enter that occurred on May 3, 2006, also to the Moose Jaw Wildlife Centre.

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests your assistance with any information you may have about a suspicious house fire that occurred on May 12, 2006. An abandoned residence situated at 530 4th Avenue NW caught fire resulting in approximately $25,000 damage. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the fire was confined to the abandoned house.

 

Sometime between May 5 - 8, 2006 culprit(s) entered a locked vehicle parked behind a residence in the 900 block Brown Street and stole $4,000.00 worth of car stereo equipment including a car television monitor.

 

Sometime overnight on May 2, 2006 culprit(s) broke into the Moose Jaw Wildlife Federation building on 3rd Ave NE by prying open the rear door. Once inside, culprit(s) attacked the storage room and kitchen, stole some liquor and caused $500.00 in damage.

 


 

During the month of April, several areas of Moose Jaw have been victim to both residential and commercial break and enters. Crime Stoppers is reminding citizens to ensure your property is secure both when you are at home and when you are away from your home.

 

Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public's assistance to solve seven thefts from motor vehicles that occurred between April 12-18. The culprits entered the vehicles without causing damage as the doors were unlocked. Stolen property was valued at approximately $1000.00. Moose Jaw Police Service is requesting you lock your doors and do not leave wallets and cell phones in your vehicle while unattended. Help us protect your vehicle and lock up these thieves.

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers requests the public's assistance to solve a Break, Enter and theft from SIAST Palliser Campus Recreation Office. On March 27, 2006 unknown suspects entered the office and stole the safe that was located inside. The safe was small enough to be carried away by the suspects. Your information may be eligible for a cash reward. Help us crack this safe and pay you some cash.

 

On March 30 and April 2, 2006 unknown suspects broke into Dairy Queen and Subway Restaurants. Entry was gained to both businesses through the roof. Once inside Dairy Queen, the suspects rummaged through the office and attempted to gain entry to the safe. Though they went to great lengths to enter Subway, the suspects set off the alarm and left the business empty-handed. Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving these and many other break and enters in the Moose Jaw area.  Moose Jaw Police Service believes the suspects responsible are the same for both incidents and may be responsible for a previous break-in to Leisure time Bingo as well. Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers need the public's help in solving a Commercial Break and Enter to Leisure Time Bingo that occurred on March 22, 2006. Culprit(s) gained entry by prying open a door to the vacant portion of the building then into Leisure Time Bingo through the ceiling which set off the alarms. Culprit(s) then fled the scene and caused excessive damage to the building.

 

Crime Stoppers requests your help to solve five Break and Enters to Moose Jaw residences that occurred between March 3-5, 2006. Suspects entered the homes by forcing open doors. Once inside, the culprit(s) ransacked bedrooms and other areas of the homes causing an estimated $2,000 damage and making off with over $5,000 in property. During the month of March, the citizens of Moose Jaw have been victim to nine residential break and enters which are a common problem in the city. This type of crime costs everyone through high insurance rates, creates a fear of crime, and causes sadness when houses are ransacked and personal items stolen.

 

Over the past week, Moose Jaw Police Service received five reports of stolen vehicles. Police would remind citizens to ensure that their vehicles are always locked when left unattended.

 


 

On February 28th, 2006 culprit(s) entered a home in the 1100 block Simcoe Street and rummaged through various rooms inside the residence. An X-Box was stolen and it is believed culprit(s) were scared off.

 

Just after 4:00 am on Monday, February 20, 2006, four parked vehicles were hit in the 1300 blk of Algoma Avenue. The offending vehicle was a red 1992 Dodge Spirit that was left at the scene and later found to be stolen from the 500 blk Duffield St. West. The culprits fled the scene.

 

During the month of January, four vehicles were stolen from Moose Jaw and recovered in Regina, Saskatoon, Medicine Hat and Brooks, Alberta.

 


 

Like in many larger communities, Break & Enters are a common problem in Moose Jaw. This type of crime costs everyone through high insurance rates, causes fear of crime and sadness when houses are ransacked and personal items are stolen. 

 

Sometime overnight Friday, January 20th, a locked compound was entered at Mercury Service in the 1400 block of Caribou Street West.  A white 27-foot Halmark V-nose car hauler trailer was hooked onto and then stolen. Inside the trailer were three snowmobiles as well as tools, snowmobile clothing, and assorted gear. 

 

On Saturday January 14th, during the afternoon or evening, three homes were targeted by thieves. A home in the 1300 block Stadacona Street West and a home on Botting Bay were entered and electronics, jewelry and other items were stolen. A third home in the 1200 block Brown Street was also attempted but culprits were scared off by a person inside the home. Police believe all three incidents were committed by the same individuals.

 


 

2005

 

Sometime during the Moose Jaw Warriors hockey game on Wednesday December 7, 2005, culprits removed and stole the tailgates from two Dodge Ram pick-ups on the Civic Center parking lot. The victim vehicles involved were a 2003 and 2004 model truck, and the tailgates are very expensive to replace.

 

Sometime between December 1 and January 3, culprits entered the compound at Holiday Homes RV Centre on the North Service Road. Vandals caused $8,000.00 damage to 16 trailers and also stole a significant amount of property.

 

On Tuesday, December 20, between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., someone drove onto the lot at the Village Ford dealership in the 1700 block of Main Street North and stole twelve new Wrangler 16” tires.

 

This week Moose Jaw Crime Stoppers wishes everyone a happy holiday season. But don’t let your festive memories be ruined by criminal activity. Always secure valuables out of sight in your vehicle and always leave your home secure and looking lived in while your away. Remember, criminals do their Christmas shopping at the expense of others.

 

About 11:00 p.m. Thursday, November 24th, suspects broke into a home in the 200 block Stadacona Street West. They found keys to the home owner’s car and then backed the car up to the door in order to load it with stolen items. The owner happened to arrive back home and interrupted this break-in. The suspect in the car ran into the house, alerted his accomplice and then both fled. One suspect is described as an Aboriginal male in his 20’s, approximately 6’ tall and slim.

 

In the early morning hours of Saturday November 19th culprits entered a vehicle in the 800 block Elizabeth Street. They found a set of house keys in the car and then entered the house while the owners and their children slept. Several items including cell phones and electronics were stolen. Fortunately no one was hurt. Police believe this break and enter is related to others the same night.

 

Sometime late Saturday night November 5, 2005 culprits stole a blue 1987 Ford pick-up from the 200 block Lillooet West. The truck was driven out near Keeler and completely burned. Police believe a theft from another vehicle in the 300 block Lillooet West, the same night, is related to this incident.

 


 

Sometime late Monday night October 17th culprits entered a yard in the 1200 block 3rd Avenue North East. Several large items had to be moved before a home built trailer with two1992 Safari snow machines was taken. One snow machine was white and the other was salmon with an electric start.

 

Since the 8th October, nine thefts from boats have been reported to police in Moose Jaw. Thefts have occurred throughout the city and always at night. Boat tarps were often cut and fuel tanks, usually with gas inside, were taken.

 

Sometime between October 8 - 11, 2005 unknown person(s) entered Plains Small Engine Repair and stole four orange Simplicity 8 to 9 horsepower snowblowers. These snowblowers weigh between 250 and 300 pounds each and are valued at $2,500.00 - $3,000.00.

 


 

At approximately 5:30 pm, September 25, four youths entered the Cosmo Senior Citizen’s Centre parking lot in the 200 block of 3rd Ave NE. One youth opened the tailgate of a pickup truck and removed a tool box. Witnesses from inside the Centre ran after the youths who fled on their bicycles leaving the tool box behind. The group all wore white T-shirts. One youth had long brown curly hair and was wearing a red ball cap.

 

Sometime overnight, Wednesday, September 14th, culprit(s) entered the parking lot at XL Beef in the 2300 block Caribou St. West. Five vehicles had their driver’s side windows smashed out. Thieves then removed several items from inside, damaging some interiors. Taken were vehicle accessories, wallets, and stereo equipment.

 

Since September 1st, twenty-four vehicles have been damaged throughout the city. Eighteen of these vehicles had windows either smashed out or shot out by a BB gun. Most of these incidents occurred on the East and South sides of the city.

 


 

During the last few days of August, 24 windows were damaged at Sacred Heart School by having the screens removed and totally destroyed. This damage occurred over at least two nights and a similar incident occurred in May. In that case, the culprits destroyed screens and also tried to burn a plexi-glass window.

 

Sometime overnight Tuesday, August 21st, someone broke into Smitty’s restaurant in the Town ‘n Country Mall in Moose Jaw. Once inside, culprits gained access to a large safe, broke it open and removed an undisclosed amount of cash.

 


 

During July and early August, four break and enters have occurred to concession stands at local sporting venues in Moose Jaw. All the incidents occurred on the east side of the city and happened during the night hours. Entry in all cases was by prying or smashing doors and windows.

 

During the day on Wednesday, July 20th, someone entered SIAST in the 600 blk Saskatchewan St. West. The culprit(s) went into the architecture training area of the school and removed a NEC data projector worth almost $2,000.00.

 

Sometime after 6:00 p.m. July 19, 2005 culprits stole a flat deck trailer from the 900 block Manitoba Street East. This 1996 16-foot Rainbow brand trailer is black with pink and purple pin-striping and has tandem wheels. The suspect’s vehicle in this theft is a pickup with large, knobby tires.

 

At approximately 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 18th, 2005 a lone male entered Zeke’s Jewelry in the Town ‘n Country Mall inquiring about two specific diamond rings, alleging an insurance claim.  Once the male had the rings in his possession he fled the store. This individual is described as approximately 5’3”, skinny, wearing a navy jacket, dark pants and a baseball cap.  He was noted leaving the parking lot in a 1970’s Chrysler product, brown in color.

At approximately 0100 hours July 5th, 2005 a woman was robbed by two males in the alley of the 200 block Ominica Street West. The first male suspect is described as 20 years old, 5’4”, wearing a beige shirt, black ball cap and jeans. The second male is described as 30 years old, 6’0" - 6’2” wearing jeans and a white shirt.

 


 

Between 3:30 & 4:00 p.m. June 24th, a 14-year-old male was walking south in the 800 block of 4th Avenue NW. Someone tapped him on the shoulder and as he turned, the culprit hit the victim in the face. The youth suffered a broken tooth and a lacerated lip that required stitches.

 

Sometime after 3:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14th someone entered the old Grant Hall Hotel in Moose Jaw by breaking open a rear door. Once inside, the culprits wandered through the building and stole a power drill, a grinder and a pressure washer. The items were then removed from the Grant Hall to a waiting vehicle.

 

During the first five months of 2005, thefts from vehicles were up 59% over the same period last year.  In May, car stereos appeared to be the main item of interest for these culprits.  Also interesting is that many of these thefts appear to have occurred on weekdays.

 

Sometime between May 22-23, 2005 Doepker Industries was entered in the 1100 blk High St. West. Numerous welding and cutting tools were taken by dragging them out of the building to a waiting vehicle. Also during the month of May, a residence on Moose Jaw's south side had a Hobart welder and a Miller plasma cutter taken. Total value in these thefts is $14,000.00.

 

Sometime overnight on May 22 or 23, 2005 culprits entered a blue trailer on the Moose Jaw Exhibition grounds by prying it open. Four saddles and several other pieces of horse tack were stolen. Those responsible were selective, suggesting they were familiar this type of equipment.

 

Sometime after 2:00 am May 16, 2005 culprits drove around the 600-900 blocks of Vaughan, Duffield and Grandview Street. Four windshields and the rear window of a fifth vehicle were smashed out and a residential yard also received damage. Evidence from these incidents is similar to that found at other crime scenes on the west side of the city the previous week.

 

Between 12:15 and 1:00 am Wednesday May 4, 2005 three males either attempted or were successful in entering numerous suites and a vehicle in three apartment blocks on Moose Jaw's east side. A pair of vice grips was used to force the doors in some cases. The culprits were captured on video tape and were also confronted in one incident.

 


 

Sometime overnight on Friday, April 29th, 2005 culprit(s) entered a half-ton truck parked in the 800 block of 8th Avenue NW. A tan colored Billy Cook show saddle, camera equipment, power tools and some cash were stolen. This theft is valued at over $10,000.00. 

 

Sometime Saturday, April 16 or Sunday, April 17, 2005 culprit(s) broke into the rear door of a semi trailer parked in the area of Thatcher Drive East and #1 Highway. Numerous cases of snack food were taken that included potato chips, peanuts, and beef jerky. The value of this theft is approximately $2000.00.

 

Sometime late Sunday, April 17 or Monday the 18th a Charbroil barbeque was stolen from a yard in the 1200 block Simcoe Street. This unit is black with a silver top and valued at $500.00.

 

Between 2:30 and 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2005 a grey Plymouth Breeze car was hit in the 500 blk Thatcher Drive East. Damage to the victim vehicle is estimated at $3,000. The suspect vehicle in this incident is a large, blue half-ton truck.

 

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005 someone tried to steal the front grill off a 2002 GMC Envoy parked on Currie Crescent. The cuprit(s) were unsuccessful in the attempt but the vehicle sustained substantial damage.

 


 

During the month of March, individuals from outside of Moose Jaw contacted local residents requesting them to deposit cheques into their bank accounts or to create a new bank account and deposit a cheque. These cheques were later determined to be counterfeit and part of an organized fraud scheme.

 

Overnight Wednesday, March 30, 2005 four vehicles had stereos stolen from them. Three incidents were on South Hill and one on Grafton Avenue. The same night, two other vehicles in the downtown area had windows broken but nothing was stolen.

 

Sometime overnight on Wednesday March 16, 2005 someone keyed the hoods, roofs, and trunks of nine vehicles at D.A.D.'s Auto Sales at 405 Lillooet St. West. Damage in this incident is estimated at $20,000.

 

Between the hours of 5:30 and 9:30 pm Wednesday March 9, 2005 six homes were burglarized in the northwest and Sunningdale area of the city. Houses were ransacked and various articles of jewelry, cash, and electronics were stolen. These crimes are believed to have been committed by the same person or persons.

 

Shortly after 1:00 am on Monday March 7, 2005 a lone male entered the 7-11 store at 13th Avenue NW and Gordon Road. The suspect was armed with a knife, wore a disguise and demanded money and cigarettes. He made off with a small amount of each.

 


 

Sometime after 9:30 pm February 23, 2005 a 1990 Plymouth Sundance was stolen from a back yard in the 200 block High Street West. The culprit(s) drove the Sundance to a secluded area just south of Moose Jaw and set the vehicle on fire. The car was totally destroyed.

 

Sometime overnight on February 17/18, 2005 someone broke into the Big 'K' Carwash in the 1300 block Caribou St. West and stole a portable pressure washer. This unit has a 5.5 horsepower Honda motor and a blue Cat high-pressure pump. This is just one of numerous break and enters throughout the city in February.

 

Sometime overnight on February 9/10, 2005 several residences were broken into. These homes are located in the West, Central, and East districts of the city. In three incidents personal and valuable items were stolen, however in all cases the houses were ransacked.

 


 

Sometime Monday, January 24th or early Tuesday the 25th two Polaris snow machines were stolen from a compound in the 1600 block Stadacona St. West and driven from the area heading west. One machine is a 2002 blue Polaris 600 Classic and the other, a 2001 black Polaris 700 RMK.

 

At 12:45 pm January 20, 2005 a blue Mercury Cougar was making a left turn from 9th Ave NW onto Simcoe Street. The car was rear-ended and the two occupants received minor injuries. Damage is estimated at $8,000.00. The suspect vehicle is a 1980's dark red Ford four-door car that pulled over briefly, then fled the scene.

 

Sometime overnight on Saturday January 15, 2005 culprit(s) broke into the office suite at 590 Laurier Street using a ladder to climb through the window 15-feet off the ground. Once inside, a small but heavy safe was stolen that contained an undisclosed amount of cash and post dated cheques. The safe was dollied to the basement, dragged through an apartment under renovation then dragged through the back yard to a waiting vehicle.

 

Sometime during the day of January 4, 2005 a break and enter to a residence occurred in the 1000 blk Coteau St. West. The door was forced open and the culprit(s) took a Sony PlayStation 2, a clear controller, and a movie. Approximate value of the items taken is $250.00.

 

At approx. 10:00 pm, January 2, 2005 two males were seen leaving the area of Highland Road in Grayson Industrial Park. Police checked the area and learned that $400.00 of diesel fuel had been stolen from a semi tractor unit. One suspect is described as 20-30 years old, slim build, 5' 5" to 6" tall, wearing a dark jacket and toque. The suspects left in a newer Dodge pick-up.

 


 

2004

 

Sometime overnight on December 14, 2004 several vehicle vehicles were entered on the south and north sides of the city. Once entered, stereo equipment was stolen that totaled approx. $3,300.00.

 

During the early morning hours of December 12, 2004 someone stole a green 1995 Taurus from the 900 blk Athabasca St. West. The vehicle was then driven into a chain link fence on 9th Ave. NW, into a parked car in the 900 blk Stadacona St. West, and also into a parking meter on Manitoba Street East. Police later recovered the vehicle in the 300 blk of Home Street East with extensive damage to the front end.

 


 

Sometime overnight on November 24, 2004, an unknown culprit entered three unlocked apartments in Temple Towers and one in High Park Towers and stole approximately $225.00 cash while the occupants were sleeping. It's not known how the culprit got into either of the secure senior citizen apartment buildings.

 

At approximately 2:30 pm November 22, 2004 an unknown person entered the Mohawk Gas Bar on Main St. North, walked directly to the safe in a back room and stole $300.00. The person is described as a young male wearing a ball cap underneath a red hoody with dark sleeves.

 

Sometime during the evening of November 8, 2004 The Dollar Store, located at 1210 Main St. North was victim to a break and enter. The culprit(s) stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe and several loonies and toonies from the till.

 


 

Between 7:00 pm and midnight, October 31, 2004 police responded to two vehicle fires and a garage fire in the 900 blk Lillooet and 900 blk Home West. These fires are considered suspicious in natures with a total damage of approximately $12,000. There were no injuries.

 

At approximately 8:00 pm, October 31, 2004 two young persons were approached by a male and female in the 1100 blk 4th Ave. NE. The male produced a knife and began yelling at the victims. The male is described as approx 16 years old, 5' 8" and shoulder length hair. The female is approx 16 years old, 5' 4", black straight hair past her shoulders and wearing a toque. The suspects took less than $5.00 from the victims who were unharmed.

 

Between 7:00 - 8:00 pm October  21, 2004 unknown persons entered Cornerstone Christian School and stole a cashbox containing approximately $2,000.00 in cash, credit cards, and cheques.

 

During the late evening of October 12, 2004 police responded to a report of a gunshot in the area of the 1300 block Simcoe St. West. The investigation determined a shot had been fired at a house and passed through a window with the bullet lodged in the living room wall. Bullet holes were also discovered at Lindale School that police believe were fired the same night. Nobody was injured.

 


 

Sometime between September 24-27, 2004 a residential break-in occurred in the 1500 blk Spadina Street. Entry was gained by prying open a kitchen window. Once inside, the culprit(s) stole several items that included jewelry, coins, and cameras totaling approximately $5,000.

 

Sometime overnight September 29, 2004 three businesses in the city's northesast area were victim of a break and enter. Entry was gained by prying open a door which led to all three businesses. Approximately $15,000 - $20,000 worth of computer equipment was taken.

 

At about 6:40 pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 two youths were inside the Community Center at Church of our Lady on South Hill. One youth grabbed money from a cash box on a table then both fled the building. The two youths are described as male, approximately 14 years old, one with dark hair and dark clothing, the other with blonde hair wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. Four other youths were playing basketball outside the hall just prior to this incident and may have knowledge that will assist in solving the case.

 


 

Sometime overnight on August 23, 2004 someone broke into Prince Arthur School in the 600 blk Athabasca St. East. Several windows on the school were damaged, the office area and some classrooms were ransacked as well as some cabinets and lockers broken into.

 

Sometime overnight on August 16-17, 2004 seven vehicles were entered in the city including three on Queen Crescent. Taken were CD players and personal documents. These are just some of the almost 50 theft from vehicle complaints reported to police in August.

 

Sometime between August 21-25, 2004 unknown culprit(s) broke through a locked compound at Westrum Lumber and stole 80 bundles of IKO 3-tab earth-tone shingles.

 


 

Just before midnight, Wednesday July 21, 2004 a female was walking east on Oxford Street West in Moose Jaw. An adult male followed her for some time and eventually caught up to her at 4th Ave NW. The culprit grabbed the woman, tearing her clothing. Fortunately she was able to escape. The suspect is 35-40 years of age and 5' 9" to 6' 0" tall.

 

On July 20 & 21, 2004 a number of Moose Jaw businesses were targeted with a credit card scam. A lone male described as 20-30 years of age, 5'10" to 6'0" tall with a slim build, used credit card information to obtain goods and cash.

 

Sometime between July 16-19, 2004 unknown persons broke into a residence at 920 Lillooet St. West. Numerous items were stolen including Makita sanders, a drill, a compound mitre saw, two black leather jackets, a keyboard with speakers, and a sound module.

 

Sometime overnight July 16, 2004 culprits entered a locked and fenced compound in the 100 block of Stadacona St. East. A 2000 grey Cavalier was raised up and all four tires and rims were stolen off the vehicle. The rims were silver and had five spokes each in a star pattern.

 


 

Sometime overnight on June 30, 2004 a pedal-start moped was stolen from a driveway in the 1000 blk Brown Street. The vehicle is blue with white fenders and has a black seat. This is one of nine vehicles stolen in the city during the month of June.

 

Since June 7, 2004 police and fire personnel have attended to a number of fires that occurred near the downtown area. Damages have ranged from minimal to extreme, being the old Pittsburgh Paints building on 4th Avenue NW. Investigators believe all the fires may be related.

 

Shortly after 10:00 pm Monday, June 7, 2004 a warehouse on the corner of 4th Avenue NW and Manitoba Street West was set on fire. Fortunately, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before anyone got hurt. Damage is estimated at $100,000.

 

About noon on Monday, June 7 two males in a brown vehicle pulled up in front of Acton Honda in the 1300 block of Caribou Street West. The culprits loaded a large red Honda rototiller in the trunk of the car and drove away westbound on Caribou Street. One male is described as Caucasian, 40-50 years old, slim build and possibly wearing glasses.

 


 

At 12:45 a.m. May 16, 2004 a fire broke out at 161 Duffield St. West, Moose Jaw. Investigators have determined the fire was deliberately started on the 2nd floor of the vacant house. Fortunately, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and save adjacent homes. Damage caused by this  fire is estimated at $30,000.

 

Sometime overnight May 16, 2004 culprit(s) keyed a total of 37 vehicles in the southwest corner of Moose Jaw. All vehicles were parked in the 1400 to 1600 blocks of Warner St., Spadina Drive, Hastings St., Glendale St. and Wellington Drive. Wilful damage is a crime that costs everyone.

 

At 9:50 am, May 11, 2004 a white male entered the South Hill Conexus Credit Union wearing a light blue or grey jacket and fisherman's style hat. He pointed a firearm at employees, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The male is described as approximately 40 years of age, 5'8" - 6'0" tall, 180-200 pounds, stocky build and not clean shaven.

 

Sometime overnight May 4, 2004 culprit(s) broke into a fenced compound at the Co-op Agro Centre in the 1600 block of Caribou St. West, Moose Jaw and stole four lawnmowers and a rototiller. All items bear the brand name 'Yard Man'.

 


 

Between 10-11 pm on Monday April 29, 2004 culprit(s) entered a 2-door grey Chev Beretta on the front parking lot of Holiday Homes on the North Service Road. Once inside, a ladies purse and vehicle CD player were stolen. This incident is one of 13 thefts from vehicles this month, and in almost all cases, CD players were stolen.

 

After midnight on Friday, April 23, 2004 a white 1985 Olds Cutlass was stolen from the 1000 blk 5th Avenue NE. The victim's ATM card was taken from the car and used to remove funds from a bank account. The vehicle was later recovered near Mortlach. The motor and several other parts were removed then the car was completely burnt.

 

Sometime overnight April 10, 2004 culprit(s) broke into a compound at the Hillcrest Golf Course. Seven golf carts were taken out and driven over parts of the course causing damage to some fairways and greens. All the carts sustained damage from collisions and wilful damage by those responsible.

 

Sometime overnight April 5, 2004, culprit(s) broke into the Lynbrook Golf Club maintenance quonset. Once inside, numerous tools were stolen as well as a 1989 white Chev pickup truck. The vehicle was later recovered in the 600 blk 3rd Ave. NE.

 


 

On Friday March 29, 2004 a lone male wearing a balaclava entered Tomas Cook Restaurant and robbed staff of an undisclosed amount of money. The unknown male locked the staff in a cooler to assist in making his escape. Staff were eventually able to break out of the cooler and contact police.

 

On Friday, March 19, 2004 between 6:30 - 9:45 pm, culprit(s) smashed the windshield of a red 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck that was parked outside of the Civic Centre in the 1200 blk Main St. North. A Moose Jaw Warrior vs Regina Pats hockey game took place the night of this incident.

 

Sometime between March 1-13, 2004 a garage in the 1100 block of Main Street North was entered. Once inside, the culprits stole numerous power tools including a compressor, a hammer drill, a chop saw and sockets.

 

During the early morning hours of Sunday March 7, 2004 the old McDonald’s restaurant was unlawfully entered and several fires were deliberately set. Entry was gained by smashing out a small window on the south side of the building. After setting several fires inside the building, persons responsible left the building by unlocking the door on the west side of the building.

 


 

At 12:20 a.m. February 19, 2004 the South Hill Liquor Board Store, located at 510 4th Avenue South West, was unlawfully entered.  A lone male entered the store by smashing out the exit doors to the building. There was approximately $1,000.00 in damage and lost merchandise. The suspect is described as wearing a blue bunny hug, grey mitts, dark pants and shoes and had a green duffel bag with a brown strap slung over his shoulder.

 

Sometime between February 17 - 18, 2004 JGL & BL Livestock located at 780 Home Street West was unlawfully entered and a small amount of cash stolen. Entry was gained by forcing open a rear door causing approximately $500.00 damage.

 

On February 3, 2004 unknown person(s) damaged the coin mechanism on six washing machines in the laundry room of D-Block at 35 Wood Lily Drive. No money was stolen; however, there was significant damage to the machines. This crime is similar to other break-ins to coin operated washing machines at other locations, and may be related.

 

Between January 30 - February 2, 2004 an 18-foot Majestik car hauler trailer was stolen from the parking lot at Golden West Trailer Sales, 1750 Stadacona Street West. The trailer is valued at approximately $8,000.00.
